Frequently Asked Questions

Customised shipping and freight solutions for your business

A freight forwarder is a professional who assists in moving goods for import/export. They ensure correct documentation and procedures are followed and manage everything from door to door.

The Australian Border Force licenses a customs broker to clear import and export cargo. A customs broker performs customs clearances electronically in most instances, and a response is received from customs to determine if the goods can be collected from a wharf or airline and delivered to the customer.

Yes. All importers require a registered customs broker to clear goods. Ensure this is organised before buying the goods from overseas or before the goods arrive.

All transit times are estimated based on information provided by shipping lines, airlines and third-party transport. We will do everything possible to maintain transit times, and where this is not possible, we will continue to monitor and update you as the freight moves.

Yes. Insurance is highly advised and is worth investing in to cover your goods.

Commercial freight is any freight purchased or sold from one buyer to another, whether for business or private use.

No, anybody can import/export goods. You just need to be registered in the Australian Customs Integrated Cargo System using either your ABN or we can create a Customs Client ID on your behalf.

Incoterms are internationally recognised rules that define the responsibilities of the sellers and buyers in domestic and international contracts for the delivery of goods.

  • LCL freight takes an average of 5-7 days to become available.
  • FCL freight takes an average of 1–2 days to become available.
  • Airfreight takes an average of 1 day to become available.

Charges vary depending on the mode of transport and size of your shipment. Please contact us, and we can give you an indication of the costs involved.

Specific documentation is required for your shipment to clear Australian customs. These documents may include:

  • Bill of lading / Air Waybill
  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • Certificate of origin
  • Product-specific documentation, such as permits or licences.

It is always encouraged to arrange your freight through an Australian Freight Forwarder.

Always ask for INCOTERMS FOB (Free On Board) when negotiating with overseas suppliers at the nearest international main port.

This will cover the cost of the goods you purchase and all export-related expenses in the country you have purchased the goods.

We can then advise all associated costs from when your goods are loaded on the vessel to your door anywhere in Australia.
